Enough is Enough!
If you Google the word infomercial and ask for only the Blog results, it takes “about 0.19 seconds to get about 215,368” results. Wow, that’s a lot of people that have a lot to say about Infomercials. As of late many of them are the result of people comparing Twitter to an Infomercial examples such as “Twitter is becoming nothing more than an infomercial” are all over the blogs and frankly we have had enough!
Does Twitter deserve to be called “an infomercial” we don’t think so. Twitter may be a very exciting application but where will it be in 20 years. The “Infomercial’ has been and continues to be a great vehicle for sharing information about products and services that require time and/or demonstrations to show the features and benefits of what is being presented.
Infomercials are responsible for generating billions of dollars in direct sales and billions more in retail and channel sales. Has Twitter done that? No, is it intended to do that? We don’t see it that way, so unless you are Ashton Kutcher, or an Astronaut tweeting from space you probably are use Twitter much like the rest of us. Tweeting to stay informed about your favorite music, a great show you follow, or it could be an exciting new infomercial that you want to review or read about, all of those are great…but please don’t compare infomercials to Twitter…Infomercials are proven, seasoned and here to stay…Twitter, well the jury is still out.
